Answer:- Your understanding is partially correct. 1882 Rosetta had her name changed when 1863 Alice met and married 1842 Henry Cockman. I do not think it was in any way an official name change. I belive they simply called her Rosia Cockman
Storyline - 1842 Heny Cockman had a child with 1846 - 1883 Jane Tillcock. They called her Rose Cockman. This Rose was born in 1877 and died in 1883 (GRO's will be added to the website later and are currently on Ancestry should you like to see straight away). When 1842 Henry Cockman married 1863 Alice Maria Page, on 11 May 1884, on the 1891 Census, they simply called 1882 Rosetta Maria Page - Rosia Cockman. Evidence of this can be seen via her profile on Ancestry and I will add it to her profile on this website shortly. On 1882 Rosettas birth certificate (To be added to her profile and is available on my Ancestry tree now) , Alice mentions no fathers name and 1863 Alice was a Domestic Servant. The father may be by 1) another servant she was working with, 2) the master of the home she was working at, or 3) a relationship else where (Which may even be 1842 Henry Cockman, but I think this is unlikely in my opinion, based on my current research). 1842 Henry cant be ruled out yet, as I am sure I have evidence of him working as a servant somewhere, but need to re-find it. I will add this to 1842 Henry Cockmans profile when I find it.
